USNF the Vote

UU the Vote letters Small

USNF the Vote works to protect and strengthen democracy. We are currently working on efforts to ensure that the "The Freedom to Vote Act" passes. This historic legislation would make it easier to vote in federal elections, end congressional gerrymandering, overhaul federal campaign finance laws, increase safeguards against foreign interference, strengthen government ethics rules, and more. We are phonebanking and postcarding to help pass this critical legislation and would love your help. FMI: contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Beginning Sept. 17, from 5 to 6:30pm on the third Friday of every month, all are welcome to gather on Zoom to share hopes, worries, fears, plus ideas and plans related to social justice. We’ll have time to share what’s in our hearts and on our minds, plus each social justice group will provide updates. This is a time for learning, reflection, and cross-pollination about social justice. Adding to our efforts to mobilize for the 2022 election, reverse climate change, and achieve racial justice, right now thousands of Afghan refugees and asylum seekers are arriving in the U.S. With all these challenges, what are we called to do as Unitarian Universalists? And how will we do it - together?

In 2020, over 150 congregants wrote postcards & letters and made phone calls – well over 25,000 – to protect and turn out the vote. In 2021, we’re supporting local groups who do grassroots organizing year round, and working on state and national-level actions that have compelling strategies to protect and strengthen democracy.

Work has already begun to prepare for the 2022 election. Voter suppression and other efforts to weaken democracy will no doubt continue, and we will take actions to overcome them, and take positive steps to make a more perfect union. USNF the Vote uses two google groups, one to share action announcements, the other to participate in on-line discussions. If you want to join one of these groups, or learn more about USNF the Vote, contact the USNF office administrator and ask to be connected to Dave Roitman.
