Web of Life K/1st GRADEThe children are introduced to the UU Principle of respect for the "interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part." We seek to develop awareness of the interdependence of living things and each child’s place within the web of life; nurture children’s enjoyment of nature and sense of wonder and awe; and to gain awareness of, and comfort with, change and growth as characteristics of living things. We also hope to develop a desire to protect the environment.
Free to Believe 2/3rd GRADE
FREE TO BELIEVE is a developmentally appropriate exploration of our religious lives together, exploring our seven Unitarian Universalist Principles, and a variety of our Unitarian Universalist sources, all reflected in stories, discussions, and activities. The goals of this curriculum:
Bibleodeon (Fall/Winter) 4/5th GRADE The class is named “Bibleodeon” as a reference to the fun kids’ channel, , which shows lots of cartoons with various characters and stories. The Bibleodeon curriculum introduces the Hebrew and Christian scriptures by presenting the best known Bible stories with fun plays and engaging games. Children enjoy acting out the stories where often the script is sprinkled with silly jokes.
Treasure hunts, writing your own proverbs, being detectives and trying to figure out who killed Abel, and watching video clips from Jesus Christ Superstar – it is a fun and engaging way to learn about the Bible. Every week there is a Mystery of the Day question like “Did Jesus really perform miracles?” These stories, important for cultural literacy and as stories we can learn from can seem magical, troubling, unworldly… lessons always include conversation about connections and/or disconnections between the messages of that particular story and UU principles, and our practice of being in covenantal relationship.
![]() ![]() ![]() Toolbox of Faith(Winter/Spring) 4/5th GRADE
Participants reflect on the qualities of our Unitarian Universalist faith, such as integrity, courage, and love, as tools they can use in living their lives and building their own faith. Each of the sessions uses a tool as a metaphor for an important quality of our faith such as questioning (magnifying glass), reflection (symbolized by a mirror), flexibility (duct tape), and power (a hammer). You the Creator 6th GRADE
You The Creator is an activity-based program of creative empowerment. It stresses the importance of supporting and affirming one's own and each other's creative abilities and connection to the creative power of the universe.
There are four primary themes: Exploring Creativity, Experiencing Creativity, Expanding Creativity and Expressing Creativity. All themes emphasize a connection to religious thinking, especially the Unitarian Universalist Principles and Purposes. Neighboring Faiths 7th GRADE We gather to explore the various Sources of our Unitarian Universalist faith
Students explore different faith traditions from their historical origins to their presence in today’s multi-religious and interfaith reality.
Students and teachers plan their program by choosing religious groups they want to learn about and visit, while relating the experience to their own growing Unitarian Universalist faith.
This curriculum involves a number of field trips.
